A shorter novel with beautiful writing, nearly poetry. The strength of a family bond, of a true love, is transcendent

FUN, lighthearted, but with metaphors that land more heavily against the backdrop of the "real world."
Very clear and concise, informative without being overly academic. A joy to read

A perfect follow up, different in exciting ways but the same sense of escape from the real world. This book has more darkness than the previous book, but the way chosen family comes together created a feeling of warmth in my soul. What a lovely thought, that we could stand up for ourselves, find people who love us, and have their families love us too.

A breath of fresh air. A delightful queer Victorian romance with the bright intensity of the moment of realizing one’s queerness for the first time. Surprises and hopefulness, and a perfect reprieve from the world around us.

This was the most inspiring book I’ve read in a long time. Now that I’ve finished, I’m looking up a list of banned books and reading them next, and then I’ll move on to some of the classics. What a wonderful message about loving books, loving to learn and to know and to share with others.
