Solid, not phenomenal or especially original. As I await the start of baseball season it helped to tide me over!

Braverman's writing is so evocative; whether she was recounting learning how to steer a team of dogs or sitting around a table with the regulars at a Norwegian near-store, I felt like almost like I was right there experiencing it myself.  She has a very interesting story to tell, and pairs it with really trenchant analysis of what it is like to move through the world in a female body and the harassment and threat of violence  that accompanies that.

Delightful, informative and illuminating.  And so innovative!  The collection of signoffs from Miriam Frank's letters to Charlotte Partridge -- sandwiched between segments detailing the history and context of MF's and CP's lives as well as the archival process followed by the author -- provide a uniquely documented record of the personal and professional partnership over 60+ decades shared by these two extraordinary women.  Their story deserves to be told.

I *really* liked this book!   An absolutely gripping page-turner with incisive commentary about class, capitalism and gentrification -- I could not put it down and did not want to.  I also marvel at Nickolas Butler's ability to write across multiple genres -- I hope he does more like this!
