Captures a ton of what I've been feeling at the moment.

I love the little tangents she goes on, each tangent will go on for a few pages, just enough to capture your interest and maybe inspire you to look into the art piece or study she's referring to, before getting back to tying it in with the main point.

Great case studies on a bunch of events that actively reinforce all the points in the early bit. Good mix between philosophical talk and lived experience.

Found this book like a decade after I would've had a use for it but it is somewhat helpful to feel a bit more validated in my experiences.

I think my main complaint is that once you realize and admit that your parents are emotionally immature, you've probably already coped with it far past the point that this book would help. This book would be helpful to someone who still feels some sort of unhealthy attachment, or that they "owe" their parent something, which is usually way before you're able to recognize that they have serious flaws or that your childhood was actually messed up.

It's also just a very classic self help, repetitive type book so outside of the personal experience anecdotes its quite boring and takes what feels like ages to get to points you likely came to yourself in the introduction of each chapter.

overall probably helpful to someone out there but if you're already no contact or good at establishing boundaries don't bother

So good, so moving, insane what people experience here for literally doing nothing wrong. Everyone in Denmark should read this... Actually just everyone should read this.

The ultimate primer on prison abolition. Goes through a lot of the history and makes clear arguments on how it's beyond repair. I wish the last chapter on alternatives was longer but it mentions plenty of starting points for further reading (restorative justice, free voluntary rehab, decriminalization, etc)

Mostly aimed at folks starting non-monogamy but plenty of good therapy check ins and I really like the restorative justice approach to dealing with conflict.

Incredible breakdown of the colonization of Palestine. Super readable, breaks everything down argument by argument. An easy entry point if you dont know much and still very useful if you know a bit already.
