An interesting informative read it gets both into the technical and social impact of the teleagraph as well as the many parallels to the internet which I never realized until listening to this book

So good I would listen to it again! Because it references a diary you get an interesting first person perspective which I always enjoy in historical nonfiction makes the listening experience feel less like textbook

This is definitely on the dryer end of historical nonfiction, not all historical nonfiction is this dry but I will say it's A LOT of history to get through so I can see why it would be that way I do think it would make a great reference book cherry picking out smaller parts you need as opposed to reading it fully through unless you just REALLY enjoy medieval European history

I really enjoy Ruth Goodmans perspective of history she's often not only informative in a factual way but usually has practical experience preforming historical tasks/jobs which gives the reader a unique insight into the life of a Tudor kind of like a textbook combined with a diary
