Let me start by saying I LOVE books with unresolved endings. I liked this story the entire way through, the sub-plot romances were so cute and youthful and fun and the family dynamics were interesting enough to keep it page turning the entire way through. However! This book lead to nothing for me. I was so disappointed in the ending, that I almost gave this 2 stars. It felt less unresolved and suspenseful and more?? the author didn’t finish it?? My mother in law loves the TV series and recommended this to me (even though she didn’t read the book), so this definitely might be for you, just not for me. BUT IF YOU FEEL THIS WAY TOO ABOUT THIS ENDING, CELESTE NG DOES SUCCESSFULLY DO THE “unresolved ending” SO MUCH BETTER IN OTHER BOOKS OF HERS.

I loved this book so so much! I’d give this 4.5 stars. My 5-star list is best of the best of the best and I rarely give 5-star so consider this really great. I remember reading this feeling what it felt like falling in love at this age, for the first time, and feeling those young love feelings. It was so cute, heartwarming, and easy to read. I think it would make a really good “get-into-reading” first book.

I loved this book!!!! 4.5 stars simply because this story contains so many characters (some of which who have very similar names) and it became hard at times to remember who was who with what storyline. Besides that, this book was near perfect. It felt so special in the way it bounced between the two main characters, and books with alternating chapters always keep me hooked because I’m always trying to get back to my favorite timeline. Also there are things the reader knows that the characters never find out. That detail made me love this even more, because it was much more realistic.

It started with so much potential, and I'll admit- I had high hopes. This book has been hyped up for a year or more, and I was excited with the new show coming out, to finally get around to it. The beginning I would give 4 stars; the characters had the chemistry for an amazing story. The side characters had depth to them, the storyline was really starting. The middle was a solid 3 stars- nothing bad, but nothing special. That usually is perfectly okay with me in that middle chunk, because the ending can redeem everything- except when it doesn't. This book started strong and fell shorter and shorter the further I read. I think that was the authors intention... normal people living normal lives- nothing spectacular. However, I must not be book-smart or pretentious enough to "get it" because to me, it just felt like I read nothing. The ending was 1.5 stars maybe- I'm hoping I can watch the show/movie and feel better about it.
