Um. Wow.
I have an actual tear running down my face right now.
So, so good. The politics were more heavy than I usually like and really frustrating, but honestly very believable. The mix of science with writing that may as well be poetry was beautiful. The philosophical and ethical themes were amazing and relevant. The LGBTQIA+ portions, especially the transgender awakening, were handled well (but heads up that we're with the character through all the internal angst related to that subject)
Very impressed with this author.

Very predictable slasher, it was clear who the villain was in chapter 2? 3? Very early

Cozy mystery with big found family vibes. Vera is hilarious. She's so bossy and nosy and convinced she's right about everything, but she's loving. I loved little Emma especially, I have a soft spot for kids like that.

The writing style of this one feels very YA to me, and it focuses so heavily on the characters' inner emotional melodramas. It started out entertaining enough, but I got tired of the angst partway through. I won't be continuing with the series.

I didn't realize this is the extremely abridged version, it was labeled but not in a super obvious way 😆
Switching to the less abridged "complete" version
