This was such a good read! Also it was my first audiobook ever. It’s approachable, quirky, funny and really significant when it comes to the trials and tribulations the child actors go through in the film industry. Also comes with a good set of trigger warnings: Eating Disorders, Abuse, Mental health disorders.
However, as long as you’re comfortable navigating these, I say go for it!
Apart from the main mystery that kept me hooked, there was nothing redeeming about this text. By the end of it, once that veil of mystery comes off, all that remains is a shallow, sexist, under-researched book. Don’t go for it if you’re looking for character development/something significant.
This was my first one by Adler and I enjoyed it quite a bit. To say there's not a dull moment, would be an exaggeration but it paints an interesting picture of 70s New York.
This book came at a time when I really needed it. It’s so beautifully drawn and the concept of using different animals for diff nationalities and races was pretty clever. It’s emotionally charged and also calls attention to its own writing process is what’s I loved the most. I’ll prolly read it again once I gain some distance.
