This was a really interesting and creative way to get a glimpse at black history through music but I was NOT a fan of the mc! I did really love the playlist at the end though!

I never read blurbs because half the time they spoil most of the story, but this is one of those rare times when I wish I'd at least looked at the back of the book 🤦‍♀️. Not everything with Vern in the title is about Jules Verne...duh! But aside from my silliness this is a good story but I'll probably forget about it pretty quickly.

This book was so cute and perfect and I truly wish the sequel was available on audio because if it was I would have started it immediately after finishing this one! This felt so much like reading a cozy small town version of Kiki's Delivery Service and I absolutely adored it!

When people kept comparing this to a Studio Ghibli movie, it almost turned me off reading this book completely, despite having already preordered it. But, I am so surprised but pleased to report that this book really does feel like stepping into a Studio Ghibli movie. It's a bit dark at times but it also has the perfect amount of whimsy to go with that 'warm hug' feeling. If I don't reread this sometime in the near future that will be a huge mistake on my part.

I seem to have fallen out of love with the B&TB story over the last couple of years but apparently, the nostalgia has somewhat stayed with me because I think of the three books I've read from this series so far, this is the one I've been the most invested in.

I genuinely thought I would adore this book and immediately want to binge-read the rest of the trilogy but unfortunately, I could barely get through this one. The romance quite literally came out of nowhere and I really think this needed to lean more heavily into the cozy aspect + academics to rivals or it needed to be dark academia.

Wow... if you thought the first book had too much of the movie in the beginning you're going to be very surprised by this one. We are immediately in a whole other twisted story with this one! I didn't love this one as much as Aladdin and Jasmine's story and I'm wondering if I would have appreciated it more had I seen the Disney movie before reading (or at all 🙈).

Eh. It was interesting to see Viv's life before she settled down but I don't think I'll ever reread this one or really ever think about it again.
