The beginning had my blood pressure so elevated (and contemplating murder) and then effortlessly moves into a really rom-com. This read like a love letter to libraries and the incredible staff who help communities everywhere (I fucking love the library) and the awkward growing pains of making friends as an adult. As always I want to know all of these people, visit these places and eat every single food that was mentioned. What can I say, Miss Henry doesn't miss. This is the most ‘Rom-com’ of her books and I needed that.

I don't know what Kathryn Moon puts in her book but it feels like drugs. I'm truly a monster romance girlie now.
I devored this and 367 pages flew by.
My only qualm was a dubious consent part with one scene but for the rest this was thoroughly enjoyable.
As always check trigger warnings and don't yuck other people's yums.

Day 1 of the Trans Rights Readathon started STRONG!
This was amazing. I loved the story, the characters, the weird format and the sunset gif. I was giggling frequently and loudly LOL. I’m now desperate for someone I know to read it so we can start having inside jokes. :dusty sticks:
If you’re worried about differentiating between the characters because of the chat format it’s fine. The tone of each character is distinct enough.

If you put the song Abbey by Mitski, Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House, the masterpiece film Monster House (iykyk), Howl's Moving Castle, Gallant by V.E. Schwab, a bit of American Gothic Ethel Cain vibes and a pinch of Erin Brockovich all together you would get the beginnings of this book.
Personally I ate this up. A sentient house will get me <i>every. single. time!</i>
My other favourite arcetype in media: <b>The Angry, Hunger, Resourceful Woman™</b>
e.g. Alex Stern from Ninth House, Lila Bard for Darker shade of Magic, El from Deadly Education etc
The author's note at the beginning surmises it perfectly. This is a <s>love</s> letter about loving a place that doesn't always love you back and that it is.
4.5 ★ only cause I wanted a little more from the ending and it was a little over written in parts.
