fav character: Seung
fav quote: “Anger is the right response to injustice.”

i LOVED this book. the story is based off of the authors’ grandparents and how they met/loved but thrown into fiction/fantasy!
Seung and Eunji are such strong characters in their own way and came from incredibly different lives so learning how they come together (and how it is written so) is amazing
the plot itself with a government trying to take over the entire place and having a rebel group and people are terrified to say no to anyone in power??? i hate it but i LOVE it
the ending chapter seemed to tie some things together so i get that an epilogue was a good idea, however, im not totally sure how i feel about it. are we getting a second book? do we get anymore of our favorite characters??

overall, definitely something i would recommend to people who enjoy books with fiction/light fantasy, injustice but overcoming it, mild friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, and Korean history.

fav character: Grumble
fav quote: “Diabetes shouldn’t happen to people with dyscalculia! And people who love sunshine shouldn’t have to become vampires!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

definitely thought this book was gay because the MMC has such feminine energy/vibes so i LOVE the fact someone told them they dress like a retired lesbian 🤣
the story of this, as someone with illnesses of my own, hit quite hard.
i love how the main characters bloom and come to terms with how different their life is going to look and how they got back to “normalcy”
the romance was just a bonus and the art is ugh so good and beautiful

this book is TJR’s second novel so they have grown so much since this but boy was this book cringey in some parts
overall, i enjoyed the story and how much you learn and grow with the characters
as someone who is in a long-term, serious relationship (with pets), this story hit me a little harder than i expected

this book hurt my feelings and gave me anxiety
but also in a good way?
i wasn’t sure if i would enjoy the back and forth between 2 different universes but holy cow…truly, one choice can set multiple worlds into motion and i think this book was so well written for that
