I gave this book 5/5 but honestly I would give this book a 9/5 rating if I could. It is so good, I was rooting for Abitha the entire time and the way the author got me to absolutely hate the townspeople as quickly as they did.. I have no words. This was such an emotional read and I love it it had exactly what I was looking for.

Rating: N/A (because it's a memoir) but I genuinely enjoyed it. And found so much of it heartbreaking, relatable, and inspiring.

I got 31% of the way through

But I don't think I can continue. This book is not bad, however for a book that claims it's poetry most of it is not... poetry and doesn't have any cadence to follow. A lot of them are semi-deep thought or ideas that don't hold any weight because they're not well executed or they are just straight up simplified to a point that they become a clichè you've heard 1000x's before. There are a couple of poems that I genuinely enjoyed which you can see in my journal entries for this book, but I don't think I can finish it, though I did go in giving it a fair shot.

Really good, a bit repetitive at times but honestly I wasn't expecting that plot twist. Overall a very fun popcorn type of read.

I can't get past the over explanation of the same shit 50x over. The description of weather, land, and family dynamics- especially the depiction of that family dynamic was really well done (for the most part) everything else not so much.
