This was a spicy good time! Really no criticisms, it wasn’t my favorite book of the year or particularly memorable but I had a great time reading it!

I loved the fall vibes and I prefer a delicious slow burn romance. However, a lot of this book felt boring/predictable. I can see how that contributed to the coziness, but I just don’t think it’s for me. Also the main characters just felt really flat. They each had 1 personality trait and then you got constantly beat over the head with it. I did really enjoy all the fall activities in the book and some of the side characters were fun, and I could be interested in reading their books.
Okay but what was the deal with Annie? I realize she looking out for her friend but dang she seemed really judgy and rude to Jeanie

I really wanted to like this book. I love the idea of a gladiator romantasy. The pacing of the book just didn’t make sense to me. The immediate action fo the gladiator battles felt very fast paced. And the romance was ridiculously fast. He certainly went to loving and trusting a noble, who he claims to hate really quick. And sometimes it’s safe to be around Soro and sometimes it isn’t? And yet, with all this fast paced all the blood guard battles are so far apart. And he’s a slave but able to be the princess’s guard and just freely go around the city?
I also think it was super obvious that Leith’s family was dead and then he conveniently gets tattoos to also live for a lot longer since she’s elf and he’s human?

Did not finish book. Stopped at 21%.
I couldn’t deal with the unlucky thing with the main female character. And a lot of the dialogue felt juvenile

I loved Ana Huang’s Twisted series. But the seven deadly sins hasn’t been my favorite. This book however, I really loved! The banter between the two love interests but also the entire friend group was top tier. I can’t wait for the next book with Brooklyn and Vincent and curious to see if we get a book with the billionaire owner of the football club.
I really liked the chronic illness/pain representation in this book as well!
