I enjoy a good mysterious environment, especially when there are hidden passageways leading nowhere. I had several issues with this book, like the constant character shifts, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 5%.
I just don't feel invested in the story anymore.

This is the book.

With a dictionary at the end to help explain common terms that come up in conversations about racism, anti-racism, and the US overall, this book is accessible for those beginning their journey to being a better white person, and an incredible tool for anyone looking to enlighten some folks in their lives. Run, don't walk, to get your hands on a copy of this book. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This translation is accessible, fun, and informative, and makes it easy to follow the journey of Odysseus and his family, as well as their shenanigans with the gods. I highly recommend Emily Wilson's translation.

Though I was more than enthusiastic about this series as a teenager, and this story contributed to my journey of exploring my identity as a person, as well as a reader... it was difficult to read at this point in my life. I've been actively working to develop my ability to recognize abusive and manipulative behavior, so seeing this book through that more enlightened lens made it significantly less enjoyable.

This wasn't exactly what I expected going into this book, but by following the author's journey, I feel inspired to attempt a shopping ban of my own.

This book explores family, cultural identity, anger, peace, and healing. It's creative setting and circumstances were a fascinating journey that led to many speculations about a unique world.
