This is one of those books that the 14-year-old girl in me loves. It's written from the perspective of a smart young girl, and it's a really quick read.

I'm on an NPR-style essay kick right now, and Sarah Vowell is just about my favorite. She's a history nerd and a self-professed awkward thirtysomething, and her voice is really honest. Plus, she made me laugh out loud at least a few times each essay!

Anne Lamott is another one of my favorites, and this one was especially great for me, as the mother of a young son. She captures the frustrations of having a young child while trying to keep your adult mind intact. Alternately hilarious and heartbreaking.

I liked this book in spite of myself. It's kind of like thinking woman's smut. :)

I'm reading this for a book club I'm in, and it's some great food for thought. I don't think anyone has yet figured out how to talk about green lifestyle changes without sounding preachy, but if you can get past the occasional haughtiness, this is a good read!

I'm a grammar nerd for a living, so this book was great fun for me. It's rare to come across someone who's passionate about commas, so this was very reassuring!

There was a place in this book when I was so sucked in, so absorbed by the story, that I was really affected by a turn of events. Like, I actually couldn't concentrate on my real life for a while because I was so upset. I loved, loved, loved this book.

I read this book for a women's studies course in college, and I immediately declared it my favorite book. I'll be curious to reread it someday and see if it still affects me like it did 12 years ago.

Marian Keyes is my favorite brain candy reading (which I've done a lot of since my child arrived and my attention span has disappeared into the ether), and this is probably my favorite of her books.
