I wanted to love this so bad, but it was just a regular novella to me. I enjoyed certain aspects and the concept/world was interesting, but I didn't feel for the characters.

Gods, YES. I own multiple editions and many of those are limited, so I was hoping very very very hard that I would love this series and I DO. It's not too cosy but it's not crazy 'high stakes save the world' either and that's what I loved here. I avoided all spoilers and reviews and went in blind, as I do with most books. Because of that, the mystery-solving plot was a surprise which I thoroughly enjoyed! The characters were intriguing and their relationships naturally developed. With the Bridgerton era vibe on the side, this was an all-round recipe for success.

This was a mesmerising movie playing in my head and I loved every wholesome second of it.

This one is definitely my favourite of the series!
Somehow, I related a bunch to Henry as well as Halle, with his chaotic brain and her people-pleasing tendencies (and healing from them). They truly see each other and are considerate in every way, but they are searching for the best ways to care for one another (and themselves) at the same time. I love their love and how it naturally progresses throughout the book.

Why did I wait so long to continue this series?? Miller and Kai are freaking adorable and then Max on top of that?? Ugh my heart went pitter patter so often while reading. They're flirtatious, there's a great build up, a genuine connection and a longing to know everything about the other. Their love came easy but was so complicated when they didn't know what to do with it yet. I love everything about this book.

This is the first installment in a series and a great introduction to the world, its history and magic system. I enjoyed the setting, as I haven't read many urban fantasy novels before.
What takes one star off for me, is some of the repetitive writing and some of the dialogue that were lacking for me.
I am able to look past it to a point, though, and will say that I recommend this book for sure!
At last, I applaud the narrator for doing an astounding job on the different accents, especially as they often occur in one conversation, requiring her to switch quite quickly.

I can't believe my journey in Chestnut Spring came to an end. This last novel was the perfect completion of the series, with tension and struggles but such deep connection as well. Beau and Bailey - to be fair, sound good like dog names indeed - go through a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences, but find each other through all of it. I liked how their issues/fights were resolved realistically, with them taking time and accepting the other's efforts to make it okay and always staying true to themselves.
Now I can finally truly recommend this whole series!!

Historical novels aren't my go-to, but since I love historical fantasy, I decided to try this one. My love for the English language helped my love for the story, but a couple of things were quite lacking. Mostly the pacing bothered me: I understand the focus on making the slips since it took years and years, but it got a bit repetitive. Besides that, I missed more in-depth feelings and experiences of Esme's heartbreaking moments in life, I felt they were skipped over as quickly as everyday conversation.

I do recommend this novel if you can keep those elements in mind.

*If she’s sunshine, I’m the guy who hopes it never starts raining. But deep down, I worry that I’m the typhoon.* 💛

Grace Reilly knocks it out of the park once again with the latest novel in the Beyond the Player series.

What Nikolai and Isabel each went through in the past and how it shows in their behaviour to one another is written so beautifully and realistically. Being the fourth book in this family's story, it feels like coming home. Their personal struggles makes them grow in their relationship instead of standing in the way of it, but somehow Reilly managed to not overdo it on how quickly they found each other in the mess of it all.

I love this book with my whole heart, as I do Reilly.

Thanks to ValentinePR and the author for granting me an arc copy. Of course, this review is my own opinion.

Though I found the concept very intriguing and the beginning was great, this novel didn't grasp my interest well throughout the entire read. Maybe I will reread it at some point in the future, but for now, I'll give it three stars. Would recommend though, it might be a 'me' thing.
