very strong beginning. kind of lost me somewhere along the way. i just don't like not knowing what's actually happening. not sure about henry, either. might have cried once or twice because of
noah. ronan and adam are, of course, divine but so much of gansey and blue's spark went missing.

eeriest book so far, though less intense compared to the second one. loved adam's growth. i even enjoyed malory and greenmantle, jesse and
gwenllian
.  needed some more clarity at times. emotionally, everything felt right for book 3. only ganseys voice got a bit lost among everything else.

this hurts me but the quality of the sequel to a pretty solid tsc just wasn't what i had expected. neither did this feel clever nor all that exciting. it was both way too clear and vague in all the wrong places. still, i love the main characters, especially jean and am looking forward to the finale. but damn, not every side character of a side character needs a goddamn name, nora!

little plot, a lot of introspection. really enjoyed this but the magic system is a bit frustrating. it's both intuitive and not. things are real because characters tell us so, not because there is an explained magical ground the reader ever gets to fully understand. it surely is whimsical.

i absolutely loved the dynamic between kavinsky and ronan, the themes of repressed queerness, sexuality and longing in general, becoming and unbecoming, power and defeat. the romance aspects (especially between gansey and blue) felt sweet and heartbreaking. also, all my love goes out to noah. never being able to fully be a part of the experience, floating somewhere between real and illusion, being loved but in a more abstract kind of way.
