This was actually so good.

It could have been about 100 pages shorter but I really enjoyed this!

The first 45% was such a drag and honestly, I found it pretty boring. I’m so glad I took a break from reading because when I came back, things picked up fast after 50% mark.

Lots of action and twists, and spicy scenes.

Okay, it’s time to rip off the bandaid, I’ve been dreading picking this back up, and I think it’s finally time to DNF.

It wasn’t bad, but I just didn’t feel the connection between the characters. Though they had REALLY GOOD communication.. except for the MMC not really realizing she's pretty much unavailable emotionally, and has some trauma.

The pacing was strange; 116 pages in, and they’re already talking about probably getting into a relationship after her divorce is finalized?

And honestly… Taran gives me the ick. He seems nice enough, but he’s way too forceful and relentlessly persistent. (He reminds me of this one guy I used to know who wanted to date me but I had to keep friendzoning him, didn't end well for him.)

Lyra is clearly not ready, and he’s out here saying things like:

"Lyra, you have no idea what you do to me. Look at you with your cheeks all flushed and your curls all wild. Please tell me that you're willing to give this a shot when you're ready. Maybe it won't work out, but maybe it will. If it somehow doesn't, it won't be because we want different things out of life. I think we've laid it all out clearly. We seem to understand each other really well."

CALM DOWN, BRO.

It's great that you practically just met and are in love with her already but SHE IS LITERALLY EMOTIONALLY UNAVAILABLE RIGHT NOW.

I have an ARC of book 2.. and I'm scared to read it.

What in the Wattpad did I just read!?

This book was SOMETHING alright. I'm not sure where to start; the amount of notes I made while reading, especially on all the inaccuracies, is astounding. My Kindle Notes and Highlights.

Let me first say, I LOVE the premise! (The ONLY reason I'm giving it 3 stars... well that and when Alex randomly put on a Shrek movie bc that reminded me of my bf and it was CUTE.) A romance novel with a gaming twist? Yes, please!! I even enjoyed how the video game mentioned in the book is loosely based on League of Legends, which I’ve been playing for over ten years. (Not as often anymore (prob 2-3 times within 2 weeks), but I play ADC/Sup & Mid with some jg experience back in season 6, though you will never catch me top that shit is aids esp with the changes in the last 2-3 years.) But while the concept had promise, the execution and writing? Not it.

I have mixed feelings about this and I'm not sure how to review it, or have all my thoughts laid out in a way that even makes sense. But maybe I'll review this in chronological order based on the events in the book, probably with quotes etc? Not sure yet.

Good Game, Gamer Girl has a lot of potential to be great, but it felt like a rough draft, with underdeveloped characters, and unanswered questions. And the lack of research into the actual game, esports, and streaming made it inaccurate; and at times, painfully cringe to read. While there are some cute-ish moments, some very cute quotes and I desperately tried to like the characters, some parts of this book were so aggravating that they overshadow the good.

Sylas and Primrose may come from different worlds, but their hardships mirror each other in ways they don’t immediately see. Sylas, weighed down by heartbreak, betrayals, and curses, is convinced he’s beyond saving. Primrose, on the other hand, is desperately fighting for her freedom from a manipulative family that has controlled her life for too long. Their slow realization that they’re exactly what the other needs makes for a deeply satisfying romance, packed with tension, longing, and plenty of witty banter.

I really enjoyed the first book, but this one didn’t quite work for me. While A Cure for a Curse is a charming fantasy romance filled with magic, drama, and the ever-addictive grumpy x sunshine dynamic, that completely hooked me at first, I found myself losing interest after the halfway point. I started skimming around 60%–75% and ultimately decided to DNF.

I'm a little disappointed. I liked the magic system, the character dynamics, and even the smut, but the story started to lose me after 50%. Maybe it was just my reading slump, or maybe it didn’t quite match my vibe. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really enjoyed this! I loved Ryan and Hannah's chemistry, banter and all their cute moments.
Ryan is absolutely the cutest! He’s so protective, supportive and caring.
His paper airplane notes 🥺🥺

I wish the conflict resolution didn’t feel so rushed? It seemed like something big was about to happen, and was hinted at, but nothing happened.
I liked that Jace turned a new leaf, though it felt very sudden?

Anyways, I'm so excited for Dominic's book!! Also, I really want to know more about that thing that happened between Ilya and Natalie👀👀

An Arrow to the Heart is a delightful read that combines fantasy, romance, and cozy vibes into a charming story. The plot follows Ardál, a human traveler who stumbles upon the enchanting village of Wyrmwind. The plot kicks off when he is injured during a raid and taken in by Sylvie, the local fae healer. This setup creates a beautifully sweet and steamy romance that unfolds throughout the story.

The writing is engaging, with short chapters that make it a quick read, and the pacing keeps the story moving without dragging. It does have its charming moments, and there are some engaging elements of spice and romance, but I wish there had been more substance to the cozy atmosphere.

I really liked Ardál and Sylvie! They were both over 30, adding a refreshing perspective to their romance. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the romance is just the right mix of sweet and spicy, with a few unexpected twists that kept me on my toes.

This really could have used a bit more editing to polish it up though.

Also, can we talk about the author using the word "titties," it was sooo cringy and gave me the ick

Besides its shortcomings, it was a cute, easy, spicy read with a great cozy vibe, this was a good palate cleanser between books.
