I love this book. I came across it from seeing Sarah Schauer talk about it in her instagram stories (I have found SO much good non-fiction through her book reviews and reading-related posts) and as a bi woman, I wanted to read it immediately.
I found this really interesting, validating, informative and incredibly easy to read. The author packs the info into really digestible writing which is a skill I am always in awe of.
I think this is a fantastic book for anyone who simply wants to know more about bisexuality, the history of it, the studies around it. I've read about lesbian and gay research before, but not bisexual research, so for me this book held some really valuable insights and information.
Something I, shamefully, had never considered before that this book brought up is how bierasure makes it hard for people seeking asylum due to sexuality-based persecution to prove they are bisexual in courts. Their safety depends on if that judge is willing to believe they are bisexual. Which is genuinely terrifying for these people who just want somewhere safe to live.
I think this book achieves exactly what it sets out to. It is structured well and written well and I have highlighted and tabbed so much of it to come back to later, including topics and names to do more research on. A great starting point to broaden your knowledge on bisexual history, culture and science.

Well, this was rather delightful.
While I loved Charlie and Nora together, Nora and her sister were my favourite part of this book. Their relationship, their love for each other and their journey together was so wonderfully done.

This is an incredibly beautiful, well-written book and it is 100% my kind of novel. But unfortunately I am just not in the right headspace for it at the moment and it is overdue at the library now, so I must return it. Will come back and finish it eventually, when I am in the right headspace to enjoy it fully. To be honest, I will probably buy it so I don't have to worry about the time constraints of the library and so I can annotate it.

It just wasn't doing it for me. The prose was a little clunky, and the main character was annoying me a little bit. Just a LOT of repetition of "I'm human and don't have magic so people are out to make my life hard" rather than just showing how she's treated etc, which I just found a bit boring. Stop telling me that over and over and just...do things.
I think the main character's attitude just wasn't working for me with my current reading mood, which is a bummer because I was keen for a cozy fantasy.
Nothing has matched Legends & Lattes for me yet unfortunately.

I loved Bunny so was keen to read more Mona Awad, but so far neither Rouge nor this one have grabbed me like Bunny did. I still need to try All's Well, hoping it isn't a DNF too.
This book just wasn't holding my attention enough, and I do think it may be because I'm craving lighter reads at the moment so should stick to those. May return to this eventually.

This was just delightful. Such a great blend of romance and paranormal aspects. I adored Ida so deeply, and appreciated Gabriel's character arc. This book also features a cast of fun side characters, like those you find in movies like Falling Inn Love and A Castle for Christmas. I found them endearing, and their relationship with our two main characters created some great moments in the story.
The pull of the mysterious contract was a great plot thread throughout, and the twist at the end took me by surprise, which is always refreshing. The prose was lovely and effortlessly readable.
I really enjoyed this book, and if you're after a romance with some paranormal mystery in it, set in a small town with found family vibes, then this book is for you.
