I loved the plot description so much, but so many of the scenes felt really repetitive :( However I will say that the mother daughter relationship explored here is wonderful. I also wish the characters were given a little more depth. Overall though I really enjoyed reading :)

I loved this one a LOT more than the first. the formats are similar in that both are comprised of short stories but the way all the stories in this sequel are different point of views during different times of Yo’s life make it so much fun to read. julia alvarez is a phenomenal writer !!

I love immigrant/hispanic stories. This novel had such a unique way of storytelling it’s hard not to enjoy. I think it lacked a lot of deeper description of personal relationships between the characters, specifically because I was confused a lot throughout the story. Overall though it’s a really nice read :)

Such a good and engaging story! It felt so creepy reading at times because it felt I was being watched too. I thought the spoilers would be bigger given other reviews i’ve seen, but the twists were still pretty shocking. The ending though was perfect and bittersweet. Such a good story

such a good book :,). the love story was a bit underdeveloped for my own taste, but overall it was a really sweet story.

It took me a few days to get into this book, I was putting it off. But once I did start, I just wanted to keep reading!! I loved the characters and although the ending leaves more to be wanted, the story itself was very beautiful to me
