I just couldn't handle the writing in this book. In fact, I got (according to my Kindle) 35% of the way through. Yes, I understand the main character is a big guy. Oh wow 300 lbs eh? Oh neat he wears size 4XL. You say that punch would have hurt more if you weren't padded with muscle? No kidding. The gun descriptions were a little unnecessary as I'm sure nobody reading urban fantasy actually cares for that much detail. Lastly, there are other words for 'reverie'. Try daydream? Perhaps something shook you from your thoughts? Or got your attention? I think that in the first third of the book the main character is awakened from/snapped out of his reverie at least 3/4 times. It's a shame, I wanted to like this book as the idea interested me, but 400+ pages of this stuff was just too daunting.
