I’m not really sure what to rate this one. I wanted to love it, but I also didn’t. I wish it was a first person new adult, instead of third person (super) young adult. After reading Catwoman, I had high expectations. It just didn’t live up to them. But the story itself was good!

So I really wanted to love this book. But.. I just didn’t. The writing wasn’t my favorite and the story had a lot of holes in it. I didn’t love The Guest List, so maybe I was just destined to not love this one.

I know this is a huge title coming out, so I’m probably not a popular opinion. But Ben drove me NUTS. I didn’t understand any of Jess’s reasoning (I hate when people refuse to go to the police after a possible murder) or why she stayed there and I don’t understand why Ben had to sleep with everyone in the book as part of the story 🙄 honestly I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. So much swearing, sex and drug use. It was just a lot unnecessarily that didn’t contribute to the story.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 43%.
First, thanks Wednesday Books for sending me a copy of the book!

This is a YA thriller/suspense. It follows a group of friends that love playing video games. I loved l that it talked about the gaming world, and the competitiveness! Crystal gets a message from an anonymous app saying they have kidnapped her sister, and she needs to complete tasks in the next 24 hours to keep her alive. Sounds simple right? Until she has to hurt her friends.

It’s pretty predictable, and painfully YA. But! If you liked A Good Girls Guide To Murder or One Of Us Is Lying, then you’ll like this one!!

I think I this would have been a better adult suspense.

Publication day is February 1!

Honestly, she could write a phone book and I’d read it, and probably cry at some point.

Definitely a lot like Spirited Away! I loved this book. It’s super clean, and easy to read. It can get a little confusing at parts, but I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a clean YA mythology story!
