i'd read mary hk choi twice before. i really loved yolk, and then the only thing i liked about emergency contact was the writing. that's what happened here too. the idea was better than the execution. the story follows the relationship between pablo, a generally unsucessful guy, and a pop singer called leanna. i just didn't care for them and i couldn't get invested in their stories. i kind of disliked pablo, meanwhile there wasn't enough to leanna for me to truly dislike her. their romance didn't make sense, which might be because i'm not into the insta-love trope at all. and once again, at least the writing was good.

i thought i was the target audience, since kpop and literature are my special interests. but i'm not. i think i'd only recommend this to someone who dreams of being in a romantic relationship with a kpop idol. not that i'm blaming those people. anyway, the writing is the biggest issue. i disliked the style because it read like fanfiction written by a 12 year old. elena's character development was barely there and she generally annoyed me, meanwhile robbie couldn't annoy me purely because he had no personality at all. the side characters are lacking severely. overall, could've been much better. the idea is fine, but the execution made this a forgettable read for me.

god, i appreciate it on some level, i truly do. the theme is something i appreciate and i think it's nice to write about. but the writing style is killing me. i want poetry to make me feel something, preferably strong emotions. this made me feel nothing because the style is completely flat and uninspiring, and the poems read like instagram captions or something. not my thing </3

a guy becomes part of a family of talking cats. and it was really sweet!! i liked the art style a lot and i thought the story itself was touching, and the message is sweet. i will say this didn't entertain me as much as some other cat themed manga i've read. that may be because i feel like the target audience here is readers much younger than me.

something that immediately stands out about this novel is the representation. there's so much diversity here and it's truly refreshing to see. not to mention that the representation is amazingly done, i was impressed. the art style is so cute, lovely color scheme as well ^^ the magical atmosphere is wonderful, i love the kind of witchcraft that the author decided to incorporate. the characters were sweet and the development was okay, but i did like their dynamics more than i liked them as individuals. overall, a super cozy and enjoyable read that i think many people would like ♡
