This was my second Colleen Hoover book, and I was not disappointed. It was so easy to read, and once the climax began, it was hard to put down. I expected to cry, but I didn’t; that’s fine, though. The ending was satisfying, and I found myself quickly falling in love with the characters. My favorites were Sara and Pepper Jack Cheese (I’m such a sucker for animals). The plot twist was unexpected for me but that’s Colleen for you 😂.

I also really liked that she showed the complexity of Samson’s life and the motives for his crimes

Side note: the cover is absolutely gorgeous; props to Murphy Rae.

I am a casual reader of nonfiction, as I more often read fantasy and romance. However, I won this book in a giveaway; A memoir about a queer woman who plays roller derby was definitely something that intrigued me. From reading this book, I learned so much about the sport and it’s accompanying community. Montesanti’s writing style really helps you feel connected to her teammates, especially her derby mom, Taryn. While I loved reading about Joan of Spark’s roller derby fun, I was most captivated by the self-discovery happening at the same time. Montesanti shares very personal experiences from her childhood, which have shaped her to become the person she is now. It was truly inspiring to see how she learned to be more independent from her mother and was able to recognize the flaws within that relationship. I recommend this book to readers who love nonfiction and queer books with an emphasis on personal growth.

Amazing book. I came into this series with mixed expectations. I’ve loved Marissa’s other series, but I have also heard disappointing things about Renegades. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the small bits of romance that were sprinkled throughout. Absolutely loved everyone on Sketch’s team. However, Max was my absolute favorite. Finding out about the ending of book 1 was a roller coaster. I can’t wait to see how the plot will continue in book 2.

This book was absolutely beautiful. The cover and illustrations were gorgeous. The stories were captivating and reminiscent of classic fairy tales. I particularly loved “Ayama and the Thorn Wood” and “When Water Sang Fire.” The lessons taught in these books are very relevant and important for kids to learn but please read the content warnings before introducing them because some stories have dark scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed the way it connected to the world of the Grisha, as the S&B books slyly mention some of the folk tales outlined in the book. Overall amazing read and I recommend even those who haven’t read other books from the Grishaverse to explore this one.
