My second Lucy Foley book. And oh my, this one's more suspenseful and twisted over The Guest List! I think I can sense a pattern on her mystery/thriller books which I really appreciate. It's not a hard read but will get you thinking and guessing and keep the adrenaline rush. I even finished the half of this book in a day.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

This is my second R. F. Kuang book and definitely another 5-star for me. I really enjoyed the historical fantasy academia setting of this one. The plot is brilliant. I love how the author interconnected different language and translations in the story. Tho fictional, the research on the origin of a couple of words are really informative and stirs the intellectual side of me. There is a strong character development and the essential cause that they are fighting for are highly relatable. You could try to put yourself in either of the main characters and be able to understand their perspective, even believe their reasoning. Not everyone is brave enough to sacrifice for the many. And in the event of a war, it is never just one side that accumulates losses.
The conflict of the story somehow reminded me of Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Both story inspire the Filipino countrymen to raise nationalism and fight for the welfare of its people.
BABEL is a book that could be assigned for reading and discussion among high school and college students.
A very well-written book full of wisdom. Highly recommended especially to those who want to grow a deeper and more mature faith. This is one of the books to read when you want to make peace with someone or when you've been holding on a grudge. Coupled with stories and characters from the bible make this even more relatable and profound.
My first Emily Henry book! Definitely won't be the last. Truly enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters who got dumped. This book made me feel excited and emotional. There are a number of funny dialogs, too. I did not expect the story to have such very deep family issues and childhood trauma. Some were very relatable which made me cry like a baby. Thank you, Emily Henry.
