Better Living Through Plastic Explosives by Zsuzsi Gartner
slow-paced
1.5
I didn't read every story in this book, just "Summer of the Flesh Eater", "Once, We Were Swedes", "Floating Like a Goat", "Adopted Chinese Daughters' Rebellion", "Mister Kakami", and "Better Living Through Plastic Explosives", which is 6 out of 10 short stories in this collection. I can't say I particularly liked any of them. Some parts were okay, but overall I didn't care about any of the characters perspectives, was apathetic to the writing style, and could only feel mild to extreme dislike of the stories. I read this for a class and my professor apparently finds Gartner's work funny and interesting, but I completely disagree and am happy I don't have to read any more of her work.
