This book ruined me without me even noticing it, the last few pages I just couldn’t hold back my tears.
Cause the thought of being able to talk on the phone with a loved one who has passed away, it’s heartwarming and bittersweet at the same time.
I wasn’t enjoying the book at first but I kept reading until I couldn’t put it down

I was searching through books when I saw this one, the cover caught my attention.
The plot of two sisters, one living in South Korea and the other living in the USA felt intriguing.
It’s a slow burn heavily focused on family secrets and your own identity.
To be honest I expected more, it was a bit predictable but overall a solid read.

If you follow me for quite some time, you know how much I loved Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, so obviously I was dying to read her first novel (around 600 pages) that is centered around Casey Han, a strong-willed, Queens-bred daughter of Korean immigrant parents who aims to reach a luxury lifestyle.
Don’t get me wrong, I love MJL writing style and I think in a way it was the somewhat savior aspect of this novel but it’s behind boring and leads nowhere.
I read this one with @hendrixsbookscorner and I’m glad she feels the same way, as we reached the end we were both like what the actual fuck.
Honestly I thought I wasted my time with this book but the fact that I own the physical copy kinda threw me on a guilt trip, otherwise I would dnf.
In short words this book is mainly about the power of money, social clashes, toxic relationships, adultery, morality and cultural identity (which I’d like to have seen more of)

You know what’s one of my favorite things?
When I stumble upon a book that catches my interest and it feels like the book has chosen me

The main reason I wanted to read this book was because it was recommend by Namjoon but also the tile intrigued me.
I believe it’s not a book for everyone, not just because it deals with mental health issues but also the writing style.
At first I was really enjoying it but towards the ends it felt a bit repetitive to me and debbie downer.
Nonetheless I think it can be an excellent book for people who seek some type of reasoning or comfort.

A Touch of Darkness was my first read on kindle and I totally loved the reading experience. I’m not a fast reader and even not being able to read all the time I still managed to finish it in 3 days which is an accomplishment for me
I didn’t plan reading this book so soon but it just happened and what a nice surprise!
Lost track of how many times I thought yup that’s me

Definitely didn’t live up to the hype. I’m not the usual thriller reader but this one just felt a bit dumb to me, I could have saved 6 hours of reading by just reading the last chapter since makes a resume of everything that happens in the book. Safe to say what the heck!? Quite the disappointment since most people were raving this one.
I enjoyed this one enough to give it 3 stars but I was expecting more. The plot is so cool and unique but the execution wasn’t the best.
Not even the cliffhanger did much for me. I wished the characters and their relationships were better explored and the book focused too much on the competition but was done in a poor way.
Still I enjoyed myself and probably will read the next one.

Dear Aparna, first of all I’d like to apologize for thinking you were insufferable on Indian Matchmaking, for judging you just from some edited clips. After reading your book I felt bad for thinking that way, especial after knowing how some of the men treated you on the show but also how Sima portrayed you. Reading your book truly felt like catching up with a good friend. I’m glad you got to explain your side and so I was able to get to know better the empowering woman you are
