What I enjoyed the most about this book that I don’t get too see much in other defectors stories is what happens after escaping from North Korea. Everything doesn’t suddenly gets better after they arrive in the south. Many like Shin, have escaped physically but not mentally and that’s another challenge for them, to be completely free.
Since I saw this book on bookstagram, I got really excited to read it because of the unique narrative and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! A very quick read, the author was able to compel in a short amount of pages, the struggles of today’s society. What’s seen as normal and what we need to do to fit in. I did feel for the main protagonist and could even relate to some aspects. I always stood for the idea that everyone should be free to live life as they want and not be pressured by society’s rules. A meaningful, interesting and thought provoking read!
Mais um livro de um autor que gosto muito e admiro que acabou por não me cativar
