Lovely book. It was cozy and beautiful. As a socially anxious sapphic who also has an extreme love for animals, I absolutely love Aila. I also had a definite off-feeling about that one character for a while, so I'm not surprised what the character ended up doing.
I liked the romance too, though it could've been better. I loved the animals and their personalities. Overall a good book.

I really prefer Hades’ retellings because they have so much more content and it makes everything come together with a much clearer picture.
To be honest, the smut was excessive, but the book was decent and deep in some places, especially in reference to that one character (RIP

I have watched all these movies years ago and of course they’re amazing. To be honest, though, the book ads such an insane and important perspective that you can never get in a movie adaptation.
Peter and Lara Jean’s personalities are so unique and well developed. I love the structure and flow of the book, especially the present tense. It makes the story something personal.
This was a very good book that forces you to read every other book Jenny Han has ever written.

My pooks read this before me and said something in her review about how special Rowan and Sloane's bond is... I couldn't have written a better couple or a better romance. This is genuinely one of the best books I've ever read, and I was even skeptical that dark romance was for me.
I'm actually not a huge fan of smut, but this book had the perfect amount. The bond was fully developed by the time they freak-bobbed. I appreciated that.
The characters were also written insanely well, and there was no hint of extreme masculinity, disregard for boundaries or consent, or overall lack of personality in the MMC, and unfortunate token in literature. Amazing book.

• one-bed trope
• second chance romance
• middle-aged MC
• murder mystery
To be honest, I haven't read a lot of books with a pregnant main character throughout the whole story. Most books that have pregnancies (fiction) say they're pregnant and then kind of skip to the child being born, but this one gave insight into the true struggle and sacrifice and emotions and fear of having a child and being pregnant; of being a parent.
I truly liked the unconventional characters, with middle-aged balding men and all. It was nice to see adults portrayed beautifully, since basically all of the romance genre takes place in people's twenties or thirties and growing older is not really glorified. Making a family can be sweet and confusing, and I like this portrayal.
I loved Connor and Kathy's bond. It is so sweet. I genuinely love it more than words can describe.
This is a good read. I recommend it. It's different from other mysteries or romances.

To be honest, this book was not as exciting or interesting as B&B, but the romance was still good. The small amount of smut was to my happiness and the relationship was cute. It just wasn't... a lot.
