Oh my snowflakes! This book was soooo good!! Sara Raasch, you Sir are an amazing writer and storyteller!
This novel is quickly becoming one of my favorite fantasy series of all time! I love that the seasons are suspended in time. And that four out of the eight countries represents one season. It reminded me of pixie hollow, where each of the four seasons are also represented. There are many plot twist and turns that I didn't see coming. Some admittedly I should have seen given all the hints and foreshadowing and others that completely blindsided me. There were parts in the story where I couldn't breathe and others where I was overjoyed.
Meira is a character I really connected with. She is headstrong, determined and faithful to her friends and to her people. I loved that she used a chakrum as her main weapon of choice instead of a sword or bow.
Definitely read this book!!!!! I regret not picking it up earlier. I can't wait for the second book! Ice Like Fire here I come!

I would have given this novel 4 stars, but the plot was way too similar to many other novels I've read( The Legend series by Marie Lu and Body Electric by Beth Revis). Dystopian fiction is all the rage these days and authors seem to have turned to this genre like bears to honey.
Lindsay Cummings with her debut novel is no different. While her story seemed promising and plot intriguing, it quickly fell short.
The POV of this story centers around Meadow, a teenager girl, who has been trained to survive at all costs. And Zephyr, a mysterious boy, who has been program to kill. Together they try to survive and uncover the dangerous secrets that threatens to destroy their world.
The Murder Complex, while it is an action packed and fast paced book with a kick ass heroine, didn't have the original plot that I was hoping. It felt as if Cummings took other aspects of other dystopian novels and reorganized them to fit her own story. Some characters such as Meadow's father and koi (her brother) were memorable and even likable but other characters felt recycled. For example, Meadow's younger sister Peri, reminded me way to much of Prim, the little sister of Katniss Everdeen, the main heroine of the Hunger Games. Another example would be the character Orion, who's appearance and place seems unimportant to the plot at first. But then becomes known as a key member of an underground resistance movement. She is very similar to McKenzie from the Legend series.

I've never read any of V. E Schwab's books. I was a nervous about reading this book, due to the over hype this particular author gets from the booktube community.
Nevertheless I was pleasantly surprised.
Schwab has created an interesting world in which monsters roam and prey on the weak; humans.
The mystery and mythology is very well done. I curious to learn more about this world. This tale is told from two dual perspectives Kate; who is the daughter of the notorious leader of the North city. And August; a monster/boy from the south city. Togather they must figure out the truth behind the rift between the two ends of the city and survive.
Overall well written, good plot and characters. 4/5 starts. :)
