FERAL. That’s the best word to describe how I felt while reading this book. I read this in one sitting and that’s not something I can do often for a multitude of reasons. I loved it so much and I’m going to list some tropes to convince you to read it.

Tropes:
Age Gap
Fated Mates
Size Difference
Knotting
Heroine on the run
Alpha Hero
Reluctant Hero
Virgin Heroine
Touch her and die
Scared Hero
There’s a delicious Primal scene.

I’ve read a lot of alien/sci fi romances and none ever had this concept. Can you imagine being like hey I’m going to buy a ticket to a concert to see my favorite musician on the other side of the Milky Way? No? Neither could I, till I read this book.

The story is about a pop star named Kallista and she needs a bodyguard, simply put. Kallista is overworked, in a serious need of standing up to others and protecting herself. There comes in Xavian, bounty hunter turned bodyguard. Kalliata is a human, from Luna and he’s from Terra. The backdrop alone for the book is a very fascinating one and I found it incredibly immersive. One of my favorite things about Xav is his need to protect Kallista whilst giving her the push she needs to stop letting those around her walk all over her.

I can’t wait to see this world expanded and Aiken (side character) NEEDS his own story.

There’s SO much representation in here, ones where I’d suggest highly to check the TWs! Also, there was great scenes, talks about parasocial relationships, how celebrities are viewed/treated and it felt very real. The book is definitely more plot than spice but the pining/tension was phenomenal.

Normally I don’t enjoy second chance romances very much but this one was done so well I didn’t even think about the fact that it was a second chance romance.

It was cozy, it was cute, the spice was hot and there’s definitely a bad thing happening in the background with our FMC but it still felt very low stakes.

My favorite part in particular was the inclusion of Māori culture. I myself, am not Māori but seeing a culture so underrepresented in novels, in a romance book?? It put a huge smile on my face while also learning things I didn’t know about said culture.

Highly highly recommend especially if you’re looking to ease yourself into the Monster Romance genre, I think this would be an amazing choice.

Thank you Allegra for the ARC. Was truly an honor reading it!
