I really enjoyed it. I liked the comparisons to fairytales and the struggles of a single mom. The book was darker than I was anticipating, but it helped to ground the stakes.

The pacing was varied, but overall medium. 
There were places in the book where it was difficult to follow what the characters were doing physically. One moment someone was standing at one side of the room, the next they were seated beside someone. Perhaps the book needed more editing.
