For most of the story it was quite interesting with a pretty straightforward storyline and then at the end there are what I would describe to be two major twists, one that I saw coming and one that I didn’t expect which was quite enjoyable. I also found this to be the kind of book where you only fully understand the character at the end and then you have to go through and link it all in your mind again.

I’m not sure about my rating, my opinions of the book fluctuated a lot throughout with some too cheesy or obvious parts bringing it down. I also didn’t love that at some points it felt like the book was talking down to the reader but overall it was a fun read and a good story, just a bit unoriginal. It takes a clever author to write a clever character (or characters) and this author was just missing some cleverness

It is about family. It is about the lengths we go to protect them, and what we do to carry on their legacies. Gallant is about love and sacrifice, and it weaves everything into a lyrical masterpiece. (adapted from another review that described it very well)
