i read 373 pages and i don't really know what i got from it at all - the only bit that really woke me up was the ending and it was over in a few pages. For me - i find it hard not to see the main character as just a person who spends the whole time feeling sorry for herself and blaming herself for everything bad. The love interest happened way too quickly - all of a sudden theres a 'connection' out of nowhere but the connection is pretty non existent since the intimacies seen very shallow.
The zombies were a new thing, i've never heard them described in that way and it was good I've always been one for gory details - but they only seemed to be used in small doses like they weren't much of a concern to people in the book unless filler was needed.
There was one scene where she proceeds to look at her back and mentions its not that bad but then the next morning she proceeds to look at it AGAIN like the first time never happened and its somehow worse.. unless i got mixed up somewhere that confused me.
i liked that the character wasnt a perfect model of humanity - she had a bad past that she overcame but i just couldn't sympathise with her at all. Maybe more about how she actually overcame everything will be in the other books.
