I really enjoyed this book as a class assigned reading. It is probably one of my favorite assigned book to read. I love the characters and their personalities, and the humor that they bring to this book makes it light-hearted and fun to read. My only complaint is that their wasn't really a plot, and the ending was honestly quite confusing. Otherwise, I loved this novel.

Okay, so I enjoyed the book overall. Clare does a good job creating a pretty interesting world, but not a story good enough to hook me in to the entire book series. I feel like she is just milking this series way too much, and I would like to see what she can write other than the shadow hunter world on her own. The characters are not very interesting, and as a main character, Clary has nothing going for her that you want to root for besides she is on the side of the good. It also doesn't help that the book series was originally fanfiction, and Clary is kinda obviously Ginny. As a huge fan of Harry Potter, I feel it isn't quite fair to be making so much money on characters and a world already originally created. I also feel like the entire series has gone on for too long. It was meant to be a trilogy, and it should have stayed that way. If you want to read a faster paced book for enjoyment, feel free to pick it up, but remember that the series is a whole lot of commitment.
