This book breathes new life into the world. I appreciate how different each story is and how distinct each author's voice is. There is abundant information on the history between First Nations individuals and the place we call Canada, alongside the most vividly painted futures you could possibly imagine. Reading this with the current political climate in the United States and seeing how many things written here have already come to fruition was interesting to say the least.
Stunning work that everyone should read!!

The characters are all so incredible. By the end, I was feeling all of their emotions as if I were in their bones. This book talked about a lot of heavy subject matter such as Alzheimer's and the death of a loved one. Yet Toshikazu Kawaguchi manages to give this light-hearted air of hopefulness in his writing. The world felt vibrant and real. The characters were fully formed and impactful. Most importantly, the story kept me gripped the entire way through. For such a short work, Before The Coffee Gets Cold packs a major bunch. An absolute must-read!!

This is a book I normally wouldn't have picked up. Personally, I hate books with tons of pop culture references. I picked this up because I love Survivor and I needed something light, quick, and distracting to occupy my time. This delivered on all those fronts. I was oddly surprised by the diverse cast of characters. I loved hating on one character in particular- who gave me major ick the second they appeared on the page- and I loved the relationships between Orie and the other AATH castaways. Was this book super cringy? Absolutely. The tattoos were.... a choice. This also felt like a self-insert which was odd. But it was, mostly, a fun read!!
Also, I wanted to add I loved Osprey. His name? Not so much. Him as a character? YES!! He is so Autistic and every second he was on the page was *chef's kiss*.
In turn, I greatly appreciated the discussions on D.A./G.A.
I will say, this book is New Adult. She is a college graduate who is old enough to drink and has multiple instances of yearning for sexual contact with other adults. This book is not YA and it's weird to try to pigeonhole it into that category because the author is *checks notes* 30-ish and terrified of aging??
In conclusion, it was fine. In the future, I probably won't be reading anything else by this author.
