One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline

I feel like I should send Lisa Scottoline a bill for wasting my time on this story. I'm not sure why it's rated as high as it is. The story doesn't make much sense, you don't get invested in the characters, it's just pure trash.

This could've been a five star book but the ending, why would she end the book this way!

I patiently waited for the story to really take off, it never did. I had to go back and see how is it possible for this book to rated over two stars. It's not suspenseful and the characters aren't believable. There are some unnecessary stereotypes that are scattered in the story which makes me really less invested in the story. This is the first book by Maile Meloy that I've read, but it really doesn't encourage me to read another. At the end of the book I was just left sitting there wondering, what did I just read? I thought the audiobook would be better, nope, it wasn't.
Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books by Azar Nafisi

If I'd read the books discussed in this book prior to reading this, I would've gotten more out of this book. It's still an interesting read but at times it does drag with the dialog between the teacher and the students. I wanted to know more about the students and what it was like for them living in Tehran during this period of time. I did love the author narrating the audiobook.

I'm still confused, what was the point of the story? This was just all over the place for me. This was one of the hardest reads ever for me. I could never get into it. I'm happy for those who enjoyed it, I saw 4 and 5 star ratings for this, but I'm wondering how. What was I suppose to get from this? I tried the book first, and then tried the audiobook, I still have the same empty feeling.
