Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

It took me about ten days to get through this entire book—ten days, mind you. And trust me, that is not a good sign.
This book started badly and ended badly, and that's about the gist of it. The only reason why I'm giving this two stars is because it made me laugh a bit partway through.

This was a very quick read and, half the time, it felt as if the author was torn between making it a children's novel or a novel for the teenagers.
This detracted from the reading experience. Greatly.

There were so many five stars of this book that I just had to get it. Suffice to say, I'm quite glad that I did so.
From the start, The Rosie Project hooks the readers in and never lets go. I won't say much, for fear of giving away too much, but let's just say that the reader is in for one hell of a ride.

I was so assured that I'd like this book. I mean, it was steampunk, for one thing, and it involved Edgar Allan Poe—what was not to like?
Unfortunately, the large potential of this book to shine like a supernova was, alas, dimmed by sloppy characterization, unbelievable revolutionaries, and, quite frankly, while I'm all for fast-paced novels and all that, events seemed to happen way too fast in this novel. Is there not a normal day in this girl's life?
Alas, we might never know.

Extremely forgettable in the long run, this book might still provide you with some great entertainment while actually reading it.

This might be the first paranormal YA romance that I've read without once thinking of killing myself or the author—or even the main character.
That's reason enough to read it.

Whoa.
Just whoa.
To tell the truth, reading this novella was never in my plans. I kinda have this love-hate relationship with novellas and, seeing as I loved this series so much and I was only in book two, well, I suppose I didn't want to be disappointed.
And I wasn't. This book is just plain . . . wow—that's about the only word I can think up of to describe this book. It was mind-blowing and creepy and, ugh, I am officially jealous of the author's writing skills.
I'll definitely recommend this for fans of the series.

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

Extremely underwhelming. I now have no idea why I gave this book an additional star when I first finished reading it. The plot was contrived—and so, too, does the romance at times—and the mystery about who this mysterious necromancer is isn't so much of a mystery as it is a huge elephant trying to hide behind a potted plant.
Still, though, two stars for what could have been an interesting story, because, honestly, this could have been done way better.

A novel about broken dreams and second chances, I'm well aware that this is a good book.
The thing is, though, I hate cupcakes and every time those chapter heading recipes will come on, I felt like throwing up because I hate sugar.
Sue me. I'm bitter.
On another note, I've found that [b:Dirty Little Secret|16058488|Dirty Little Secret|Jennifer Echols|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1357809926s/16058488.jpg|21531210] was a far, far better book than this one.
