just. WOW. what a gorgeous tale of magic, romance, and adventure. stephanie garber has done it again with this book! at first, i was hesitant to read a ya fantasy book involving the typical fairytale tropes of true love, but then it became SO much more than that and i was hooked from the start! the worldbuilding was absolutely amazing and perfect. i enjoyed this fast-paced novel and cannot wait to read the second book of this series :)

i honestly wasn’t sure what i was expecting with this book, but i definitely enjoyed it a lot! this book was haunting and beautiful, turning ghosts and haunted houses in a  different turn. i already fell in love with the main character, olivia, from the start! what i found to be slightly disappointing was that there seemed to be a huge buildup for an ending that felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. other than that, i enjoyed this book so much! :)

a dark, emotional story that ties together three characters through an interesting fate. this is my first book to read by mandel and i absolutely adored the poetic writing throughout this novel. reading a book about a pandemic while having lived through one is definitely scary and slightly traumatic, but also beautifully haunting. i wasn’t expecting this story to resonate with me so much. overall a wonderful read <3

my love for star wars has exponentially increased after reading this book <3 first off, WOW. the adventure, the romance, the star crossed lovers trope,,, so well done. i couldnt put this book down and literally felt myself just completely immersed in the story. claudia gray made me feel like i just finished watching a five hour long star wars film and it was honestly the best thing ever. i want to see more of thane and ciena and now im sad that this is over :( anyways, 5/5 stars and definitely recommend!!

OMGG i loved this book so much!! the moment i started, i could not put this down. i fell in love (again) with schwab’s beautiful imagery and worldbuilding, and i loved the concept of using alternate realities with magic! this made me feel like i was entering a retelling of a classic fairytale, where pirates and magicians exist. it was so full of adventure and had lots of exciting twists and turns! i recommend this to everyone <3

i think the plot twists and amount of secrets revealed was what kept the book progressing the most, which was fine but got a little overused at a certain point. i think the book really picked up towards the middle/end, and i found the characters to be some of the most awful yet loveable people. overall it was an okay read

holy crap. this book left me so overwhelmed that i am sitting here, rethinking history and life and stories and everything else around me. i dont think ive read a book so immersive and beautiful to where i feel addicted to it. i was in tears and laughed out loud and felt so hopeless about this world and still loved everything so much. a part of me was worried that i would get confused from reading five different storylines but NOPE! do not fear. you will remember each storyline and they will change you forever. i hope to read this again in the future, as it was the most unforgettable and exciting novel ive ever read :)

as a huge fan of blake crouch, this book disappointed me. first, the plot was pretty predictable from the start and second, the writing felt somewhat dull? i was getting pretty bored from the beginning to the middle, and when the plot finally started picking up, the book sort of flatlined again. i would say i enjoyed the connections to things we see as of right now, such as the dangers of indifference to global problems. i definitely recommend blake crouch’s other books like recursion and dark matter a lot more than this one.

when i first approached this book, i was expecting a fast-paced action-packed story because, well, it’s a concept of time travel and fantasy with a whole war going on in between. while i was mistaken, i was not disappointed. the writing is beautiful and poetic and there is still enough action that keeps me at the edge of my seat. something about the descriptions made me fall in love with this story even more. and, of course, it’s one of the most beautiful sapphic stories i’ve ever read. i enjoyed this book so much!

what a lovely and interesting read! im honestly not entirely sure if i got the full grasp of the story correctly, but i will say that i absolutely adored the beautiful writing and imagery throughout this piece. the book had such an unexpected turn and left me both pleasantly surprised and slightly horrified at the twists. im not a huge fan of stories told through diary entry formats, but this book was an exception. definitely recommend to lovers of fantasy and greek mythology!
