to quote myself: any character in any anne rice's book is like pedophile until proven not pedophile
this book could've been way better if this rices wasn't so fucking obsessed with making her characters groomers and pedophiles. and one thing that surprised me was seeing how at least 3 characters called out david talbot in some way for being a NONCE.
this book is entirely from the pov of david talbot (yuck) telling the story of how he met AND GROOMED powerful witch merrick mayfair since she was 14 years old.
some things i liked about this book was:
- how scary the magic was (i don't know how respectful was anne rice of voodoo practices so i can't talk much more about this).
- the expeditions à la tomb raider and uncharted
- louis and david's friendship and overall dynamic since founding in eachother what lestat couldn't give them.
merrick is a star, merrick slay, merrick is so cool and scary that i love to come out of this book with another character that i liked a lot.

would've liked more from the monster's pov. that was my favorite part of the book.
frankenstein is annoying.
