I almost DNF’d this a few times, but I was determined to crawl through the tedious flashbacks in hopes of connecting the story to the intriguing prologue. There’s a hint of redemption when we finally arrive at Nede, but it’s faint and then it ends. 

It could have been a chilling speculative and body horror tale but it spends way too much time in the past crafting lyrical prose.
