a lot heavier than the title and cover suggest but still such a fantastic book - you will fall in love with these boys so quickly

(especially for me, han, give me an autistic jellyfish enthusiast and i’m already there)

the final strife is my favourite book of all time. so me not giving this book a rating immediately probably says all you need it to lol

i found this ending ridiculously disappointing for so many reasons but mostly because these characters deserved better

the first half of this book was phenomenal for me, so engaging, so fun. the second half had a unique element which i won’t spoil which was refreshing and a really great way for the battle scenes and side character closure. i just wished for more finality with our ending cast, a small reunion at least, a glimpse more hope than they were given idk ill have to sit with it more :,)

this is by no means a bad book or a bad series or even a bad conclusion, i still loved this book very much, love this series even more. i think i just had too high hopes.

somehow, every time i pick up an AJW book it is nothing like i expected it to be and better in all the ways i doubted it. this book is predictable as most thrillers are but packs one hell of a punch. it is unflinching and as brutal as YA can get. plus, there’s murder and repercussions and a trans aromantic autistic mc with the best dog in the world.

i can’t say i enjoyed this story, i think enjoyed is the wrong word. but this was a good story, an important story, and reminds me to never doubt my enjoyment for an AJW book again.
