Uhhh that was weird and fucked. I loved it. And I have never read anything like it, especially the prose. It fit perfectly to the alien learning what humans are.

The characters were so weird (in a good way) you just have to keep reading. The plot was full of surprises that I just didn't see coming but were all great, the worldbuilding was integrated wonderfully and all that in under 200 pages.

I didn't expect this book to be set in a dystopian future but just in another fantasy world. So I was very (pleasantly) surprised by this. Especially because you only slowly figure that out.

I loved the characters, even though I didn't think they had a lot of depth, especially Fenrir. But I do love a dorky good-hearted LI so I don't really care.
The ending was a bit abrupt but still cute. Even though it is the first book in a series in can easily be read as a standalone (i.e. no cliffhanger).

It had a nice flow and the writing wasn't overly complicated so it made for a very easy read. I also very much enjoyed the humour.

I had a great time reading it!
This book has three different POVs that only very slowly start to intersect and I liked all three of them. But especially Dianthus. I love them.
I was also a bit confused for the most part but in a good way. I was fully invested.

I also really enjoyed the writing which I didn't quite expect to starting out but hearing so many of the characters actual thoughts was fun. It made me love these idiots even more.
I also very much enjoyed the comedy in it.

Don't take this review as this book being a happy little fantasy book please. There are definitely some darker and horror aspects to it.

The one downside is me being an idiot and not doing my homework. Thought this was a standalone. Guess I'm gonna patiently wait for the next book…
