Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I mostly really liked this book, the premise and the world-building were really original and interesting and I loved that all these hardcore fighter dudes would just take a sec to talk about their feelings and their boundaries real quick like it was no big thing, but WOW are there basically no women in this book. š Maids, moms, and one anorexic Ophelia ripoff is IT. Which is pretty disappointing when we get all these fully emotionally developed dudes.
A really touching, interesting story of Austinās journey to and experience of motherhood. I am glad that when she couldnāt find books on Black single mother adopting, her solution was just to write it herself.
I love the Brown sisters, and while Eve didnāt do much for me when appearing in her sistersā installments, I think her book might be my favorite. Funny, sexy, and smart.
I really enjoy Milanās historical romance. She writes smart, layered characters with believable motives who still manage to follow a good twisty path to their HEA, and Chloe and Jeremy are no different.
Character development in the book is certainly strong, so much so that it seems like they have major self-realizations over breakfast rather more frequently than the average bear. But it was cute, and sweet, end made me wish Iād had rep like this for aces when I was Aliceās age. Maybe I would have realized I was ace before my 30s!
To say the book is character-driven is not entirely accurate unless the ācharacterā in question is Oxford. Itās an interesting historical snapshot of the universityās life during the Renaissance period, with lush descriptions of the pastoral setting. Itās a pretty, relaxing postcard.
Iām getting more into this series as it goes, and I really enjoyed getting a deeper look at some of the other kingdoms in this volume. Tea really grows a lot as a person, in that she makes a lot of mistakes and feels really terrible about them. I continue to think Fox is kind of a jerk. Zoya and Shadi are still my faves.
