This is a beautiful slow burn romance, but it was also about so much more than the romance.
Ana Maria's relationship with her sisters and their growth and acknowledgment of each other was so heartwarming. The way they wanted and searched for more freedom than they had grown up with and shared their vulnerabilities 🥹
Having an MMC who can NOT stay away but also wants to abolish slavery??? Yeah, he was perfection.
The marriage of convenience is in the later part of this book, so I can see where people are a bit disappointed if that is the trope they are looking to read. I went into this blind and really, really enjoyed it. ❤️

A super SPICY, steamy, quick Sapphic read.
You don't have to be familiar with the omegaverse at all to enjoy this book! It is definitely a more spice than plot type of book. This is for a good, fun time! ❤️🔥

Adriana Herrera is an absolute auto-buy author for me. I literally dropped everything to read this arc. I have loved every book in this series and this one did not disappoint. 🫶🏽
This book was a perfect mix of romance, angst, and comedic relief. The conflicts in this book also made sense in the story; it wasn't conflict for the sake of conflict.
The romance itself was really beautiful. I absolutely adore Aurora and Apollo together. I honestly could have read more of them and would have loved some more scenes after the last chapter. 🥹
Apollo
The parallels and realities of a black Duke having to prove himself to his peers and struggling with being accepted within a social circle hit hard. He was so great as our MMC. His willingness to uplift, protect, and support Aurora was really wonderful.
Aurora
Doctora Montalban being looked down upon for being a doctor also hit hard. The obstacles she faced to provide care to women hit really close to home and was so emotional. She is one of my favorite FMCs that I've ever read. 💗
Finally, the author's note was also so impactful to me. Leave it to Adriana to make us giggle, swoon, cry, AND learn.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the arc. ✨️

A latine story with trans representation in a magical world that takes place during Dia de los Muertos? Yeah, this was amazing!
This is YA, but it's still great in a way that adults can enjoy it. It captures the angst, feelings, and hope of a teenager while still bringing in dialogue around family, culture, love, and death. ❤️
Yadiel is a trans teenager who didn't get to have his ritual to become a brujo (witch) on his 15th birthday because his family didn't think it would work. Now he's doing it on his own and will prove to everyone that he is a brujo. On that same night, he finds Julian, a spirit with no recollection of how he died or where his body is. This means he can't simply help him cross to the other side. They must team up to investigate what happened. We follow this journey throughout the book.
I think it is important to know that this book displays the realities of being misunderstood as a trans person (there is misgendering and dismissal of the main character when he tries to join the men in his family). This book also showcases some machismo and expectations around gender roles. For example, the women are healers and stay home when the men go out to find a missing brujo. As a Latina, I didn't read this as sexism in the book or from the author; simply insight into the realities of what some latine youth can face. Obviously, we all want better for our culture. We have seen some improvements, but still have a ways to go.

A latine vampy book? Yes please!
I loved this book so much. It was different than I expected it to be for a paranormal romance (baby vamp) x vampire hunter in a good way!
Carolina is a strong-willed and feisty FMC. We see her struggle with her family's machismo and trying to assert herself. She is witty and tough. I really liked her character.
Lalo is just baby vamp trying to protect his sister and fix the mess he is in. When he finds a beautiful huntress trying to kill him, he can't help but admire her. I love it when they admire their partner's ferocity 🤭
The side characters were.also enjoyable and so funny!
The plot got a little sleepy for me in the middle, and the ending wrapped up really fast. I wish it would've been a bit more balanced, but I still loved and recommend this!!
