Look at the cover, if that does not spell it out enough for you, read the dedication. If that is something that you are into, read this book. It has surprising depth and a decent plot line. I do wish that we got to delve a little more into the world and focus a little less on the characters, but this book is what it is, and for that - it was great.

While it was not my specific cup of tea, I am not opposed to checking out some of the sequels in the future since the world building was so fun.

I wanted to like this book so badly, the premise was phenomenal but the execution was ... not what I was hoping for. This is the second of three books in the series (though the third will not be out until later this year). The pacing was glacial and it was a struggle not to DNF. Honestly if it was not for the sunk cost of having read and gotten invested with the first book I think I would have given up. The book does pick up at about the 50% mark, but the pacing is still painfully slow and majority of the plot development is in the last 15%. Ends on a cliff hanger, unsure if I will read the third book.

If romanticizing things is illegal than lock me and James up. After reading this book I am ready to quit my 9-5 and start working at a restaurant. Naomi knocked it out of the park with this book. It felt real, it was hot, it healed things in me I did not know needed to be healed. A contemporary romance for those dark romance girlies.

After being cut off by her parents James navigates the complexities of an independent life which coincides with her personal growth that leads to an awakening about toxic relationships and a subsequent journey of personal healing.

Ozzy is a hot line cook with a history of being popular with the ladies who comes with a complex back story, but he doesn't let the hard life around him, harden him. He is sweet, caring, takes care of James, and just the right amount of sexually depraved that was sending me absolutely feral.

The tension and heat in the book was absolutely stunning, the payoff in the spicy scenes was chefs kiss, I was absolutely melting over Ozzy cooking for James, and the recipes at the end almost made me tear up a little. We love to see a FMC who becomes a self-assured woman who knows what she wants. Definitely check trigger warnings, but 5/5 would recommend.

Modern day fantasy with witches, vampires, shifters, immortal fae like creatures all with cell phones and cars. Great series to prep for Crescent City House of Flame and Shadow later this month.

Story is a little slow to start, but once the plot takes off and the world building expanded this book really grabbed me. Many predictable and popular tropes, but a few things I didn't see coming that keep me hooked.
