The Gathering Storm by Kate Elliott

Finally, this series got good. I'm looking forward to starting Book 6!
The Pilgrimage by John Broderick

I loved this. Broderick writes so beautifully, so biting and simple yet fluid. The characters are strange and interesting, the plot thickens at every turn, and the last "chapter" made me laugh out loud. Wonderful.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

This is brilliant. Love the execution of the narrative style, love the premise, love the world created (though like so many epic fantasies, maybe a few too many overt borrowing from Christian theology/history). But for a first book, it has all the hook that will bring me back, and I want to shout from the rooftops how much I loved it. I ordered the second when I was only half through, and even with two day shipping I didn't order it early enough, and now I wish I'd just gone to Barnes to get it!
Masterfully woven. Excited for Day 2, devastated that Day 3 isn't coming out until August 2015...but at least the end is in sight more than A Song of Ice and Fire. Highly recommended for lovers of Harry Potter and epic fantasy. My only complaint is that this 700 page paperback was not 700 pages more for me to enjoy.
