I really liked the Silent Patient so I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately, it fell flat. I kept reading, hoping that the twist would be good even with a slow pace. But the twist just ended up being weird :(

Noooooo. DNF at 80%. The show was great (albeit a little cheesy, it is Hallmark after all) so I had high hopes for the book. But this whole book is just EW! No! Trace and Abby are both cringe and not likeable characters like they are in the show. I did not feel myself rooting for this version of these characters. Jess is annoying. It’s also weird that Trace’s parents are trying to set him up with Abby. Just no. The characters were innocent high school sweethearts in the show and when they went swimming Trace was careful to give Abby her privacy even in a tank top - but in the BOOK? He’s kind of a sleazeball who’s like “hey boo let’s go skinny dipping and make out” like ew?? I had to stop reading when Abby mentally decided to not date Trace but then went to his apartment looking for a one night thing

I loved the first two books but this one just felt weird and was not enjoyable.
Moderate: Child abuse
I thought the story and characters were decent, but nothing too exciting and I wasn’t blown away. It had some similar themes to Daisy Jones & The Six, but I liked that book a lot more.
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Cursing
