not into cheating it turns out lol. it was okay, but not great. Apparently “screaming” is the only way to describe someone speaking angrily??

oh my god i LOVED this. It was so sweet and charming and perfect. Bo was such a sweetheart and win was a little comedian. Also, apparently i have a deep love for hot tall nerds who are nice. Who knew? This whole book was so sweet, their support for one another was great, i loved win & Sarah’s sisterhood. The disability representation was amazing, and i loved that the author used her own experiences and put them in the book. Made it that much sweeter.

Also loved that in book where pregnancy was a main part, they still discussed other options. and that her friends were adamantly child free but not anti child. Ugh. This whole book was so good.

It was super fun & entertaining, I’m just not a fan of the insta love, and that was (obviously) a large part of this story. Fun premise, the characters were all fully fleshed out so that was nice.

*spoilers*
It also bothered me that the entire experience of her captivity was cut. I didn’t need nitty gritty details, but i disliked that i know NOTHING of what happened, especially when they’re describing torture and stuff. Plus, she got over it WAYYY too quickly, especially since she has pretty severe anxiety.

this book had SUCH great potential!! it checks all the boxes of a great fantasy novel, but still doesn’t deliver. that’s not to say it wasn’t entertaining, because it was! it was just also a disappointment.

it gives the same vibes as divergent did in the 2010’s. hit all the boxes of what a great ya dystopian novel had, but it almost felt cheap. it’s like she used a checklist of everything people praised about sjm books and added it to her book with MINOR changes. the last book was just as formulaic as this one, but i was hoping that was due to world building.

xaden is a copycat Rhys. there is almost nothing original about him besides his name. he’s a tall shadow wielding ethnically ambiguous man
with MIND POWERS??!??
it is literally like rebecca saw that Rhys was so well loved so she decided that she could make a series based on that same archetype.

THEN, our two love interests are RIDICULOUS. they forgive after minimal groveling?? even if you love someone, it’s okay to take time to forgive for lying or keeping something from you. they excuse of “well i love him so it’s okay” was used WAY too much.

this book was incredibly enjoyable, but i think that’s more due to the fact that most moments were basically copy pasted from a sjm or other major fantasy novel. there was almost zero originality to this book.

I’ll probably read the others, but only because I have chronic fomo and refuse to not know what people are talking about lol.

Accidental drunk vegas wedding to your brother’s ex bed buddy?? What a fun trope. Hated Hannah in book one, it was nice to like her in this one. The Scarlett/Crew moments were great, and Oliver was a sweetheart.

Loved this one!! Tbh I’m not even mad that this isn’t the end of the trilogy we thought we were getting, we really did need the entire story here. Obsessed with ash & Sera, the PAIN of this one was so intense. Love the anxiety representation that Sera gives us, it breaks my heart everytime but is so relatable. I loved it, can’t wait for may!
