This book was an utter delight.  It gave me the feel of my favorite cozy, BBC amateur sleuth, tv series with women over 40, with the fun of a cruising space trip. The addition of a slow burn romance and a cute animal side kick made this 100% my jam.

Highly recommended, if the above is something you also enjoy.

This is the prequel to Welcome to Halfling House, The Briarmoor Chronicles #0.5. We meet Eleos, the Greek goddess of compassion, pity, mercy and the ability to take away pain. She’s working as a nurse in London when a critical patient arrives with an infant who is clearly magical. The patient is dying, which will leave the child orphaned and unable to hide her magic or protect herself. Ellie must decide what to do...

This is the prequel novella to so it's short, but an emotional and uplifting story. I loved this a wonderful introduction to the world.

Ellie, formerly a minor Greek goddess known as Eleos, walked away from the Greek Pantheon in disgust thousands of years ago.  She has finally found her calling looking after a brood of magickal Halfling children. These children are half human, half other species, who are outcasts fin the magickal world and would be discarded to die without her. In this first book, twentyish years after the events of the prequel novella, she takes in a new baby who brings the forces of Zeus' magical hit squad down on their heads.  Ellie and the Halfling House need the help of the village, Briarmoor, in getting through this.

This was an utter delight. Cozy, with just enough action and peril to be a solid contemporary fantasy. The cast of characters is great and I can't wait to get to know them all a bit better.

Excellent Urban Fantasy! I'm only sorry I left it on my TBR pile for so very long. The audiobook was a great enhancement to the story.

Fabulous merger of Women's Fiction, Found community / Family and personal growth, with a Magical Bookstore to pull in a hint of fantasy. Magical Realism at its finest.
