This is the third series of Melissa Erin Jackson that I have read and they just keep getting better. This first book in a new Urban Fantasy series was FABULOUS. Hands down, one of the best new UF books I've read lately.
The world building was excellent, the characters, well written and relatable and the plot was gripping. I've already downloaded and started on book two. I enthusiastically recommend this series for fans of well written Urban Fantasy, but start with the prequel novella, Veiled Threats to learn why Harlow, a human, is living in a paranormal hub city.

I've really enjoyed Melissa Erin Jackson's cozy mysteries and recently bought this whole series on Chirp, for when I next got in the mood for Urban fantasy. Today was the day and this story did not disappoint. Savvy and smart, our married FMC, Camila Fletcher, is all that and a bag of chips.
Introduced and one of a detective pair who have come to be aware of the paranormal world around them, Camila is happy to help when a teenager comes to her begging for help finding her little sister, missing for 5 days.
This was short, but it was well written, complete and an utter delight. I've already started book one, and I hope we see more of Camila and her husband.

This is a mystery, with a little romance, a splash of fantasy (more magical realism). The story follows Aleeza, an investigative journalism student, as she moves into a dorm room that happens to be the former room of a student who went missing 5 months before.
When Aleeza starts getting messages from the missing boy, from the past, they work together to find out what happened to him. I really enjoyed this story and very much recommend it.

Who knew a book about a pregnant grim reaper could be so good?
Our FMC, Kathy Valence, is having a hell of a mid-life. She's 42, nearly divorced, pregnant by her nearly ex Simon, and totally stuck in a rut. is only able to see her failures and the obstacles in her life. Her only focus, is her job collecting the souls of the newly deceased, for processing to the afterlife by her employer, S.C.Y.T.H.E (Secure Collection, Yielding and Transportation of Human Essences).
This books begins when Kathy finds herself unable to collect her latest client’s soul, case number 507032, recently dead, 17-year-old Conner Ortiz. Then when she finally is able to find him, he claims he was murdered and that S.C.Y.T.H.E was involved.
From there Kathy and Conner set out to find out what really happened to him, along with her mentor Jo and nearly ex, Simon, they race against the 45 day countdown, before Connor is trapped as a ghost forever. I adored this book, it was a stellar debut novel. As a series starter it also leaves a lot of room for what's surely to come. This was touching, funny, and the mystery kept me guessing.
If you enjoy books with found family, MCs discovering their internal sense of worth, learning to be emotionally available to those they love, what it takes to be a good parent, and a fun paranormal mystery, then check this out.

This book was just the cozy, quirky, and light, murder mystery that I was looking for. Our FMC, Sherry, is a 63 year old librarian and solves all of the murders in the town, and there are a lot of them. Only when Sherry's maybe boyfriend is murdered, does she realize that there are a LOT of murders in her town and it's odd for the Sherriff to ask her to solve the murder.
Cons, I really wanted the Demon Hunting Society to actually participate in the demon hunting and crime solving and that didn't happen, it was a funny and enjoyable book though and I will recommend it for fans of a fun, cozy paranormal, murder mystery.
